Early Bird Entry Deadline: Friday, February 21, 2020 @ 11:59 pm

At the time of registration, all participants must be current members in good standing with Badminton BC (valid from June 1 through May 31 of each year).
All annual membership fees must be paid, and membership validated prior to online registration and before the entry deadline.  Players cannot enter the tournament without a valid membership.

PAYMENT OF ENTRY
All participants must pay on-line at registration
 
MEMBERSHIP
Current and valid 2019-2020 Badminton BC Membership is required to compete.

WITHDRAWALS AND REFUNDS
  • Withdrawal before the registration deadline will receive a full refund.
  • Withdrawal after the deadline, but prior to the draws being made, will receive a refund less a $15 + GST service charge.
  • Withdrawal due to a medical issue will receive a full refund provided a signed physician note is received by Badminton BC staff one day in advance of the first day of the competition.
  • Withdrawal from an event due to a partner medical illness will receive a refund for that event provided they are not reassigned/or request another partner already registered for the tournament.
  • All refunds will be issued after the event has finished.
 
AGE GROUPS AND EVENT CATEGORIES
Masters ages are determined as of the first day of competition, March 13, 2020
Men’s Singles (MS), Women’s Singles (WS), Men’s Doubles (MD), Women’s Doubles (WD) and Mixed Doubles (XD) will be offered in the following age categories: 30+,40+,45+,50+,55+,60+,65+,70+,75+,80+
Regular draws plus consolation in all events with more than 5 entries.
Round Robin in events with 3 to 5 entries.
Any age group with 2 or less entries will be combined if possible.
Players 30+ can enter in a maximum of 3 events (30+ Singles, Doubles and Mixed Doubles)
Players 40+ and older can enter 4 events with a maximum of 2 events per discipline.
Players 65+ may enter a maximum of 5 events provided that 3 events are in their own age group and subject to approval of HOC and scheduling capacity.
(Players 65+ who wish a 5th event should specify the event in the comment section on entry)
Questions or clarifications must be raised to the Tournament Director and Competitions Committee (competitions@badmintonbc.com) before the draws are published.
The tournament draw will be completed and published on or before Wednesday, March 11, 2020
 
ENTRY FEES (GST included)
One event: $65
Two events: $90
Three events: $105
Four events: $120
Five events: $120 (65+ or higher)
Note – Fee includes GST, Friday night snacks and beverages, Saturday dinner and dance, Saturday and Sunday coffee/tea/muffins at VRC, tournament souvenir and Victor shuttles.
Entries not completed online will not be accepted.  No manual entries will be accepted. Changes to an entry are not permitted after the final entry deadline.  Doubles and mixed doubles entries require both players to enter prior to the entry deadline or they will be partnered with another player if available.
Partner requests, changes, and pairings will be accepted up until the registration deadline; thereafter will only be accommodated if the draw is not affected.
 
SCHEDULE
Friday: 4:00 pm for local players if large entry, 5:00 pm all players: Mixed Doubles, some Singles possible.
Saturday: 8:30 am: Singles, followed by Men’s & Women’s Doubles
Sunday: 8:30 am : Finals

SOCIAL EVENTS
Friday evening – snacks and beverages, both clubs
Saturday/Sunday morning – muffins and coffee (VRC)
Saturday Night – dinner & dance @ 7 pm at Holiday Inn Vancouver-Centre
Guest Dinner Ticket: $50
All players will receive a dinner ticket which must be presented at the dinner.
Dinner tickets may be transferred.
No charge for Dance only: Guests welcome after dinner.

RULES
The rules of Badminton BC and those of Badminton Canada are in effect – 10 minute default rule applies and 3 minute warm up period.
Players are required to be ready to play at least 10 minutes before their scheduled match. 
Players are recommended to be at the tournament venue at least 30 minutes before their scheduled match.  No additional warm up will be allotted for players that arrive late for their match.

ATHLETIC ATTIRE
Appropriate athletic attire is required when on court. 
Non-marking court shoes only. 
Officials reserve the right to ask competitors to change inappropriate clothing.  Shorts that extend below the knee are deemed inappropriate clothing.  Final decision will be made by the Tournament Referee.
VLTBC: White attire only (no more than 10% colour on all court  attire, except shoes).
VLTBC has strict cell phone policy; texting only is permitted on site.
Goggles must be worn over top of prescription glasses.
